Bloom

A Summer Retreat for Teen Girls in the Santa Cruz Mountains

Welcome to Bloom

In a world that moves fast, asks girls to grow up even faster, and often rewards them for pleasing others before listening to themselves, Bloom offers something entirely different.

It’s a space to pause. To breathe. To be surrounded by beauty, intention, and emotional safety.

Bloom is a three-day, nature-based retreat designed to help tween and teen girls reconnect with their bodies, their voice, and the deeper wisdom already inside them.

Here, they’ll move, create, reflect, rest, and remember:

They don’t have to perform to be powerful. They don’t have to hide to feel safe. And they're allowed to grow into exactly who they are becoming,  with confidence, clarity, and self-trust.

What She’ll Walk Away With

Bloom gives girls more than just a few memorable days. It offers an anchor they can return to again and again.

The tools, insights, and experiences they gain here will support them not just this summer, but throughout the school year and the seasons ahead, as friendships shift, challenges arise, or self-doubt creeps in.

This retreat lays the groundwork for emotional resilience, intuitive decision-making, and a deeper sense of identity they can carry into every part of life.

She’ll leave with:

A deeper sense of identity and self-awareness

Practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

Greater confidence in her voice, her body, and her intuition

An understanding of healthy boundaries and the power of saying no

A renewed sense of calm, creativity, and self-trust

A personal journal, creative projects, and grounding practices to take home

These aren’t just retreat takeaways. They’re life tools she can return to throughout her life.

Most importantly, she’ll know she’s not alone and that she already holds everything she needs to bloom.

Meet the Facilitator: Melissa Koetz Hori

Hi, I’m Melissa, educator, emotional mentor, and mama of two. For over 20 years, I’ve worked closely with kids and teens in educational and enrichment spaces, but the work I do now comes from somewhere much deeper: my own healing.

As a highly sensitive girl, I grew up learning to be helpful, good, and tuned in to everyone else’s needs, often at the expense of my own voice. It took me years to find my way back to real clarity, self-trust, and embodied confidence. And now, this is the work I do: helping girls reconnect with who they truly are.

I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and my approach blends clinical insight with intuitive, nature-based, and creative practices. I bring together emotional tools, nervous system awareness, and soul-centered reflection in a way that feels calm, intentional, and led from the heart while remaining age-appropriate, grounded, and deeply supportive.

Bloom was created as the kind of space I wish I’d had at that age:

A space where being sensitive is a strength. Where saying no is an act of self-respect. And where girls are reminded that they already belong, just as they are.

Daily Rhythm at Bloom

Each day of Bloom is gently paced to help girls slow down, feel safe, and reconnect with themselves.

  •

We move through three soul-centered themes:

Day 1 – Body: Grounding, movement, and somatic & nervous system awareness
Day 2 – Mind: Emotional clarity, self-expression, and identity work
Day 3 – Soul: Intuition, stillness, and spiritual self-connection

While each day explores a different layer of the Self, the rhythm remains soothing and supportive:

    • 10:00am – Arrival, Connection + Grounding Practice

    • 10:30am – Themed Session + movement, journaling, or creative work

    • 12:00pm – Lunch + Restorative Time

    • 12:30pm – Group Workshop or Practice

    • 2:00pm – Reflection + Integration

    • 2:45pm – Closing Circle

    • 3:00pm – Pickup

    Sample activities may include:
Breathwork · Guided Journaling · Movement Games · Vision Board Creation · Boundary Practice · Tea Ceremony · Nature Integration · Intuition Circle · Self-Care Rituals · and more

While Bloom is not a therapy retreat, it is informed by tools grounded in nervous system science, mindfulness, and emotional development, paired with spiritual and creative self-exploration.
