Crisis & Safety Resources
If you are in danger right now, or someone else is, call 911 (or your local emergency number).
If you are not in immediate danger but things feel like too much, you can reach out to the free support lines below. You do not have to be sure it is “bad enough.” If you are thinking about calling, that is reason enough.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Call or text 988, any time, day or night. You can also chat at 988lifeline.org.
Crisis Text Line
Text HOME to 741741, any time. A trained crisis counselor will text with you.
National Domestic Violence Hotline
Call 1-800-799-7233 or text START to 88788. You can also chat at thehotline.org. They can help you think through your options and make a safety plan, whether you are ready to leave or not. They are there if you only want to talk.
RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline
Call 1-800-656-4673, or chat at rainn.org. You can reach them at any time, and you don’t have to share your name.
SAMHSA National Helpline
Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357). It is free, and it can point you toward treatment and support near you. Al-Anon and Nar-Anon also offer meetings for people who love someone with an addiction.

Staying safe while you’re online:
If someone else can see your phone, computer, or accounts, they may see that you visited this page. If that could put you at risk:
- Use a private or incognito window.
- Clear your browsing history after you visit.
- Use a device the other person can’t get to, like a library computer or a friend’s phone.
- If you can, call a hotline instead of texting or chatting online.
Shine Within and Elevate Soul offer education and support. We are not therapy, and we are not an emergency or crisis service. Nothing here replaces care from a licensed mental health professional or medical provider. If you are in crisis, please use the resources above.
You deserve support, and you do not have to navigate this by yourself.
